Visit of the Head of the Department of Agriculture to the BPS Office of Garut Regency

On Tuesday, January 15, 2025, the Head of the Garut Regency Agriculture Service made an official visit to the Garut Regency Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Office. This visit aimed to consult on the differences in agricultural production data from the Area Sample Framework (KSA) data collection which were lower than the data held by the Agriculture Service.

In the meeting, the Head of the Garut Regency BPS explained the KSA data collection process which was carried out comprehensively using remote sensing technology and modern statistical methods. This explanation aims to provide an understanding to the Agriculture Service regarding the methods used in data collection. The Head of the Garut Regency BPS also said that a more detailed explanation would be provided at a follow-up meeting to discuss the potential for data harmonization between agencies.

As part of efforts to improve data quality and collaboration between institutions, it was agreed that joint observations of Planted Area Expansion (PAT) data would be carried out in the field. The plan is that this observation will involve Field Agricultural Observers (PPL) from the Agriculture Service, focusing on 700 polygons that are the study areas. This collaboration is expected to produce more accurate data and become a reference in planning agricultural programs in Garut Regency.

This activity reflects the commitment of the Garut Regency Agriculture Service and Garut Regency BPS in working together to support sustainable agricultural development through the provision of reliable and quality data.
